The United States Capitol Historical Society celebrated the history of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on July 10. Foreign Relations was one of 11 standing committees created by a Senate Resolution passed in 1816.
The reception and dinner were held in the Kennedy Caucus Room. The Honorable Ron Sarasin, Society President, welcomed the Committee Chairman John Kerry, Ranking Member Richard Lugar, Committee members, Ambassadors, Society members and distinguished guests. The keynote speaker, former Senator Chuck Hagel, was introduced by the Honorable Tom Coleman, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors.
