The United States Capitol Historical Society held its 13th annual “Thank You” Reception on February 21st. Over 50 volunteers attended the event which is held to honor the dedication of USCHS volunteers. Volunteers help with numerous projects and programs including member tours, large events, office work, and more.
The event kicked off with a reception followed by remarks from Steve Livengood, Chief Guide and Director of Public Programs who personally thanked the volunteers. Dorothy Mejia-Smith, Director of Membership Programs and Allie Swislocki, Manager of Development and Outreach then spoke about new volunteer opportunities and the impact of the Capitol Committee’s Development Committee. The Honorable Tom Coleman, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors then thanked all of the volunteers for their hard work throughout the year and introduced the keynote speaker. Ted Bechtol, Superintendent of the Capitol Grounds, spoke about progress and future improvement plans for the grounds. Overall, the night was a great success!
